Two positions are available:


The Department of Chemistry and the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of California, Irvine jointly invite applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Chemistry or Physics who uses electron microscopy as a central tool in research. Outstanding scientists in all areas of materials physics and chemistry will be considered, with soft materials, biophysics, chemical biology, and energy materials of particular interest. UC Irvine is building an Electron Microscopy Center of Excellence around the new, state-of-the-art Center for Transmission Electron Microscopy, home to four high-end TEMs and full sample preparation facilities ( The successful candidate must be committed to the research, undergraduate and graduate level teaching, and service missions of the University. A Ph.D. degree is required, and postdoctoral experience is preferred.

2) Postdoc Position at eBIC, Diamond Light Source, UK

PDRA for CryoEM Sample Delivery Method Development

We are seeking a highly motivated PDRA to develop and apply new cryoEM sample delivery method for cryoEM. The post will collaborate with Diamond XFEL group on sample preparation, using picolitre volume dispenser to make suitable cryoEM specimens fast and reliably. In addition, the successful candidate will play an active role in assisting users with their experiments at eBIC.

The post holder should have a PhD degree in physics/biophysics or engineering and have a demonstrated record of accomplishment in conducting high quality original research. Knowledge or experience in cryoEM/ET is a plus.

eBIC (electron Bio-Imaging Centre) at Diamond Light Source provides scientists with state-of-the-art experimental equipment and expertise in the field of cryo-electron microscopy, for single particle analysis and cryo-tomography. Funded by the Wellcome Trust with the UK Medical Research and Biotechnology and Biology Research Councils, eBIC is a UK National Centre for cryo-electron microscopy in the life sciences and is currently the largest centre of its kind worldwide, hosting four Titan Krios, a Talos Arctica and a Scios instruments.  (
