easyXAFS 300+ X-ray Absorption and Emission Spectrometer
Description
easyXAFS 300+ is a high-powered spectrometer system using a 1.2 kW conventional XRD-style tube coupled to modern X-ray optics and detectors to enable such a system in a laboratory setting. The X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) provides very rapid transmission-mode measurements suitable for research and development providing high throughput for general sample characterization or product testing. Measurement mode includes both XANES and EXAFS.
The easyXAFS300+ includes a 1200 W X-ray absorption X-ray tube (either Mo or Ag X-ray tube is available), a 100 W X-ray emission tube (either W or Pd X-ray tube is available), a selection of crystal analyzers (Si 100, Si 110, Si 331, Si 551, Si 771, and Si 533), a helium box to minimize X-ray losses, a sample changer with seven spots and a detector.
This instrument is also capable of X-ray emission spectroscopy (XES), which is essentially very high-energy resolution X-ray fluorescence (XRF). At energy resolutions comparable to the core-hole lifetimes of the electron transitions, XES goes beyond simple quantification and gives information on features such as oxidation state and ligand identity. XAFS and XES give complementary views into the local electronic structure of samples.
