Biography
Lin received his doctorate from the University of Oregon in 2009. His Ph.D. research focused on the synthesis and characterization of thermoelectric materials. He held a Department of Energy postdoctoral fellowship at the Materials Science Division at Argonne National laboratory from 2009-12, where he focused on the synthesis and characterization of lithium-ion battery materials. He has authored and co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles in journals, such as Nature Communications, Angewandte Chemie, Energy & Environmental Science, Advanced Materials, Advanced function materials, Chemistry of Materials, Journal of America Chemical Society, Crystal Growth & Design, etc.
Lin has been working as a staff scientist at UCI since 2012, managing the X-ray, SEM, and e-beam/thermal evaporator facilities in IMRI. He specializes in crystal structure analysis and surface characterization for cutting-edge materials research by X-ray analytical techniques and scanning electron microscopy. He trains, supervises, and advises internal academic and outside industry researchers.
