Biography

Sara is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Yee Lab in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department. She previously worked in marketing communication for scientific instruments. She is a California native who enjoys surfing, cycling, and teaching yoga.

Research Interests

Sara’s PhD dissertation is on the stiffness, strength, and antimicrobial efficacy of bioinspired nanotextured polymer materials. She assists with training, maintenance, technical support and consultation on a wide variety of analytical instruments and materials (polymers, nanoparticles, surface agents, metals, ceramics). She has experience in reverse engineering medical devices, coating aggregation analysis, and compositional analysis. She uses instruments including SEM, AFM, DMA, rheology, tensile tests, sputtercoating, and plasma etching.
